CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia softball team (14-15, 0-3 ACC) was swept by Boston College (7-15, 3-0 ACC) after the Eagles edged the Cavaliers 7-6 Sunday at The Park.

BC trailed 6-5 heading into the final inning but put up two runs in the top of the seventh to pull ahead. Virginia scored all six of its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Both teams finished with 10 hits at the plate. Junior Giannina Cipolloni recorded a double and a single while freshman Stephanie Harris also doubled. Nine different Cavaliers tallied hits in the game.

Sophomore Kristen Hawkins earned her first career start in the circle for Virginia and threw all seven innings. She finished with two strikeouts.

Virginia continues its homestand with a 4 p.m. contest against Georgetown Thursday at The Park.
