Awendaw, SC – The 16th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team is in 11th place following Sunday’s opening round of play at The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, S.C. The Cavaliers shot 10-over 294. Wake Forest grabbed the early lead by firing 4-under 280 to stand one stroke ahead of Augusta State, Auburn and LSU.

Virginia was led by Will Collins even par 71. He stands in 19th place. Amory Davis shot 72 and is in 32nd place. Ben Kohles fired 75 to be 45th while Cole Willcox shot 76 and is in 52nd place. Ben Rusch posting an opening round 81 and is in 71st place.

Auburn’s Blayne Barber, Wake Forest’s Lee Bedford and NC State’s Mitchell Sutton share the lead at 4-under 67.
