Browns Summit, NC – The seventh-ranked Virginia women’s golf team could not make a move up the leaderboard playing in windy, cold conditions during the final round of the Bryan National Collegiate and placed fourth overall. Virginia shot 28-over 316 during Sunday’s play for a final score of 46-over 910.

Wake Forest, ranked No. 17, won the tournament at 31-over 895. Tennessee, ranked No. 16, was second at 897. The Cavaliers finished one shot behind No. 22 North Carolina and one shot ahead of fourth-ranked Duke. The low score among the 17 teams during the final round was 17-over 305 by 21st ranked Vanderbilt. The tournament featured 13 teams ranked in the top-40 of this week’s Golfstat standings.

Virginia’s players combined for just six birdies Sunday. Freshman Portland Rosen had three of those to post a team leading score of 3-over 75. Only three players in the field of 90 competitors managed a better score during the final round.

Rosen finished tied for third at 6-over 222. It was the best finish of her career in just her fifth collegiate tournament. Her previous best showing was a 15th-place effort at The Landfall Tradition last fall.
