Mitchell Frank Reaches Futures Semifinals

INNISBROOK, Fla. — Incoming Virginia men’s tennis player Mitchell Frank has reached the semifinals of the PressEx Print Open, a clay court stop on the USTA Futures Tour. He has defeated three top 1000 players to reach the semifinals.

In the first round, Frank topped Kiryl Harbatsiuk, a 2011 NCAA singles championship qualifier at Sacramento State, 6-3, 6-2. In the second round, he downed seventh-seeded Ty Trombetta 6-3, 3-6, 5-0 ret. In the quarterfinals, he posted a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Paterne Mamata.

Frank, currently ranked No. 877 in the world, is in his second Futures Tour semifinal of the year. In April, he reached the final at the event in Vero Beach, Fla.
