STANFORD, Calif. – Day three of the ConocoPhillips U.S. National Championships continued Thursday with 11 Virginia swimmers in action. Rising senior Peter Geissinger highlighted the evening with a 20th-place performance in the 100-meter butterfly. The event runs through Saturday at the Avery Aquatic Center in Stanford, Calif.

Geissinger had a busy day — he qualified for the consolation final of the 100-meter butterfly and went on to post a time of 54.76 during the evening session. He also joined former teammate Scot Robison in the 50-meter freestyle event.

Robison placed 26th in the preliminaries with a mark of 22.99 but did not swim in the bonus final. Geissinger just missed returning at night, finishing 33rd overall in 23.13.
