STANFORD, Calif. – Day three of the ConocoPhillips U.S. National Championships continued Thursday with 11 Virginia swimmers in action. Rising senior Peter Geissinger highlighted the evening with a 20th-place performance in the 100-meter butterfly. The event runs through Saturday at the Avery Aquatic Center in Stanford, Calif.

Geissinger had a busy day — he qualified for the consolation final of the 100-meter butterfly and went on to post a time of 54.76 during the evening session. He also joined former teammate Scot Robison in the 50-meter freestyle event.

Robison placed 26th in the preliminaries with a mark of 22.99 but did not swim in the bonus final. Geissinger just missed returning at night, finishing 33rd overall in 23.13.

Two members of the women’s team also competed in the 50-meter freestyle. Rising sophomore Emily Lloyd was 35th overall (26.10) while rising junior Lauren Perdue was 39th (26.19).

Day four of the ConocoPhillips National Championships continues Friday. Preliminaries begin at 12 p.m. Eastern (9 a.m. Pacific) with finals scheduled for 9 p.m. Eastern (6 p.m. Pacific). All sessions will be webcast live at www.usaswimming.org/nationals.
