Charlottesville, VA – The Virginia men’s golf team is ranked 21st in the Golf World/Nike Golf Division I College Preseason Coaches’ poll. UCLA tops the rankings followed by Oklahoma State and Alabama. Georgia Tech, at No. 4, is the highest ranked ACC squad. Duke (No. 8) and Clemson (No. 16) are the other conference schools that appear in the rankings.

The Cavaliers return two-time ACC player of the year Ben Kohles, who will be a senior this season. Also back is sophomore Ben Rusch, the 2011 Cavalier Classic medalist, and senior Bruce Woodall, who has played in the postseason twice for UVa.

A trio of talented freshmen join the Cavalier lineup including Denny McCarthy, who participated in the U.S. Amateur Championships this summer.

Virginia opens its season Sept. 26 at the VCU Shootout.
