Stanford, CA – The 12th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team is in 11th place after the opening round of the Stanford Intercollegiate. The Cavaliers shot 5-over 289. UCLA and Washington lead the field at 7-under 277.

Virginia was led by Brittany Altomare’s 4-under 67, the lowest single-round score of her career. She is tied for fourth place after the opening 18 holes. Portland Rosen and Elizabeth Brightwell are tied for 43rd at 2-over 73 while freshman Briana Mao, making her collegiate debut, is 73rd at 76. Nicole Agnello is 76th at 77. Freshman Kaira Martin, playing as an individual, is 67th at 75.

Vanderbilt’s Marina Alex leads the field at 6-under 65.
