CHARLOTTESVILLE — The second-ranked Virginia men’s tennis team opens its 2012 spring schedule this weekend as players compete in a pair of individual events in Florida. Five players will be competing in the USTA Futures Event in Plantation, while two others compete in an ITA event in Key Biscayne.

Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.), Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.), Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.), Drew Courtney (Clifton, Va.) and Justin Shane (Falls Church, Va) are competing in the USTA Futures tournament, with Frank getting a wild card into the main draw. The other four players will begin play Friday in the qualifying draw.

Julen Uriguen (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and Steven Rooda (Amersfoort, The Netherlands) will be competing in the ITA Key Biscayne Individuals, along with players from Michigan, Texas, LSU and Denver.
