Baton Rouge, LA – The Virginia women’s golf team completed the opening round of the LSU Classic in fifth place with a score of 16-over 304 Friday in Baton Rouge, La. LSU leads the 14-team field at 7-over 295 while Tennessee is second at 298. North Carolina is in third place at 301 and Vanderbilt is fourth at 302.

Virginia was led by senior Lauren Greenlief who shot even par 72 to stand third on the leaderboard after the first 18 holes. Elizabeth Brightwell shot 76 and is in 17th place while Briana Mao was 27th with a 77. Nicole Agnello shot 79 and is in 42nd place and Brittany Altomare is in 53rd place with an 80. Kaira Martin, playing as a non-scoring individual, shot 76 and is tied for 17th.

The first round of the tournament was delayed by several hours due to inclement weather. The second round is slated to start at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The final round is set for Sunday.
