Baton Rouge, LA – The 29th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team stayed in fifth place after Saturday’s second round of play at the LSU Classic in Baton Rouge, La. The Cavaliers shot 16-over 304 for the second consecutive day for a 36-hole total of 608. Host LSU and Tennessee are tied for first at 587 while North Carolina and Vanderbilt are even in third place at 601.

Senior Lauren Greenlief continues to lead the Virginia contingent. She shot 5-over 77 and is in eighth place at 149. Freshman Briana Mao carded a 76 and is tied with teammate Elizabeth Brightwell for 26th place at 153. Brightwell posted a round of 77.

Brittany Altomare rebounded from an opening round of 80 to notch the team’s best second round score with a 74 to move up to 32nd at 154. Nicole Agnello is in 53rd place at 159 after shooting 80 Saturday. Kaira Martin, playing as a non-scoring freshman, is in 48th place at 158.

LSU’s Madelen Sagstrom holds a one shot lead at 142 in the battle for medalist honors. North Carolina’s Catherine O’Donnell is second at 143.

The final round is scheduled to get underway Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
