Charlottesville, VA – The Virginia women’s golf team will play its third event of the spring season this weekend in Athens, Ga. The Cavaliers will take part in the 40th annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic March 30-April 1 at the par 72, 6,335-yard University of Georgia Golf Course.

The field for this year’s tournament includes Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Augusta State, Denver, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kent State, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Purdue, South Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest.

The Virginia lineup will feature Portland Rosen, Briana Mao, Brittany Altomare, Elizabeth Brightwell and Lauren Greenlief.

Play begins at 9 a.m. each day and the Cavaliers will be paired with Auburn and Kent State during the opening round of play.

Altomare leads the Cavaliers with a 73.65 stroke average. She finished 15th at last year’s tournament when a best-ball scoring format was used for team scoring as the competitors from each team played together. Virginia was 13th in the 23-team field.
