Cavalier Women's Golfers Remain in Fifth Place at Murphey Collegiate

Athens, GA – The Virginia women’s golf team stayed in fifth place following Saturday’s second round of action at the Liz Murphey Collegiate taking place in Athens, Ga. The Cavaliers shot 9-over 297 for a two-day total of 8-over 584. They are tied for fifth place with Florida. Alabama continues to lead the 18-team field at 11-under 565. Host Georgia is second at 573.

In stroke play, Virginia junior Brittany Altomare is tied for seventh place after 36 holes at 3-under 141. She followed up her opening round 70 with a score of 1-under 71 on Saturday. Brianna Mao dropped back to 22nd at 146 after posting a second round score of 74.

Portland Rosen is in 34th place at 149, including a 76 Saturday. Elizabeth Brightwell also carded a 76 during the second round and is in 41st place at 150. Lauren Greenlief is in 56th place at 153.

Alabama’s Jennifer Kirby continues to lead the field at 6-under 138.

The final round is scheduled for Sunday and gets underway at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
