CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The No. 1 Virginia rowing team hosts eight schools this weekend (April 14-15) on Lake Monticello, for the UVa Invitational. The Cavaliers will host No. 18 Clemson, No. 14 Cornell, No. 15 Michigan State, No. 19 Minnesota, Northeastern, Notre Dame, Pennsylvania and San Diego. The action starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The Cavaliers will have a boat dedication ceremony to honor Virginia Director of Athletics Craig Littlepage on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. Virginia will also honor its senior class in between the morning and afternoon sessions on Saturday.

In each session, Virginia will have common opponents in the first Varsity Eight, second Varsity Eight, first Varsity Four, second Varsity Four and Novice Eight races. On Saturday morning, the Cavaliers will face Michigan State, while in the afternoon, the Wahoos will take on Notre Dame and Northeastern. On Sunday, Virginia faces Cornell and Minnesota.

Last time out, the Cavaliers travelled to the West Coast to compete in the San Diego Crew Classic (March 31-April 1), where the first Varsity Four captured the Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup for winning the grand final. The first Varsity Eight placed second, while the second Varsity Eight claimed third in its division.

The Cavaliers return to action next Saturday (April 21) for the ACC Championships in Clemson, S.C. Virginia will be looking for its third straight conference crown and its 12th title in 13 seasons.

From East/West: Take I-64 to exit 129; go right on 616 for 6 miles. Then go right on 600 for 1.5 miles. Then go right on 618 for one mile to the Lake Monticello Gate on the left. The lake is 1/4 mile straight ahead.

From South: Take 29 north to I-64 to exit 129; go right on 616 for 6 miles. Then go right 600 for 1.5 miles. Then go right on 618 for one mile to the Lake Monticello Gate on the left. The lake is 1/4 mile straight ahead.

From North: Take 29 south to Rt. 250 (Richmond exit). Stay on 250 to I-64 East (Richmond). Take I-64 E. to exit 129; go right on 616 for 6 miles. Then go right on 600 for 1.5 miles. Then go right on 618 for one mile to the Lake Monticello Gate on the left. The lake is 1/4 mile straight ahead.
