CHARLOTTESVILLE – The third-seeded Virginia men’s tennis team will host first and second round action of the 2012 NCAA Tournament on Saturday and Sunday at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers play Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round on Saturday at 12 p.m., with VCU and Columbia meeting in the other first round match at 9 a.m. The first round winners will meet in the second round at 12 p.m. on Sunday for a trip to the round of 16 next week at Georgia.

This weekend’s matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Snyder Tennis Center and there will be free parking for fans at the Culbreth Garage. The NCAA will make every attempt to play tournament matches outdoors, but if weather conditions prevent outdoor play, matches will be moved indoors to the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The Cavaliers (24-1) are hosting first and second round play for the ninth consecutive year. The 2012 ACC Champion, Virginia is looking to advance to the round of 16 for the ninth consecutive year. The Cavaliers have reached at least the quarterfinals the last seven years, including a runner-up finish last year.

Fairleigh Dickinson (15-8) is making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Northeast Conference. VCU (22-4) earned an automatic bid by winning the Colonial Athletic Association, while Columbia (18-4) received an at-large bid to the tournament.

The Virginia women’s tennis team is also hosting first and second round NCAA Tournament play this weekend at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers also play Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round, a match beginning at Friday at 2 p.m. Tennessee and VCU meet in the other first round match at 11 a.m. The first round winners will meet in the second round at 3 p.m. on Saturday for a trip to the round of 16.

Admission is free for all men’s and women’s tennis matches. Live scoring for all six matches this weekend will be available at VirginiaSports.com.
