CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia senior goalie Rob Fortunato has been named a USILA Scholar All-American, becoming the 20th Cavalier to earn the honor from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. Fortunato becomes the first Cavalier to earn USILA Scholar All-American honors since Ken Clausen was honored in 2010, the year that capped six-consecutive seasons of placing a member on the team.

In 1989, the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III.

Fortunato, a native of Essex Fells, N.J., earned USILA honorable mention All-America honors last week after finishing his lone season as the Cavalier starter in between the pipes. The senior finished with a 56.6 percent save percentage and allowed 8.50 goals per game.
