BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-Rising sophomore Jordan Lavender (Nashville, Tenn.) of the Virginia track and field program placed sixth in the girls’ 400 meters final on the final day of the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships in Bloomington, Ind., on Sunday (June 17).

Lavender placed sixth in a time of 53.46, just off her personal-best time of 53.44, which is the Virginia freshman record. Lavender finished 17th at the NCAA East Preliminary Round and third at the ACC Championships in the event earlier in the year.

The Cavaliers will send a few student-athletes to the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., which start June 22 and run through July 1.
