CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Three Virginia baseball players were selected Tuesday to the All-ACC Academic Baseball Team. Colin Harrington (R-So., Johnstown, Pa.), Nate Irving (Fr., Yonkers, N.Y.) and Branden Kline (Jr., Frederick, Md.) each earned a spot on the team.

Kline was named to the team for the second time, while Harrington and Irving each earned the award for the first time.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

Kline was a second-round selection (65th overall) by the Baltimore Orioles this year and was a second-team All-ACC pick in 2012 as a starting pitcher, as he went 7-3 with 3.56 ERA. In 93.2 innings, he struck out 94 batters and limited foes to a .241 batting average. Kline moved to the starting rotation this year after earning first-team All-America honors as a sophomore while serving as UVa’s closer.

Harrington hit .305 on the season – second best on the team. He played in 54 games, with 48 starts, and racked up 51 hits as well as a .400 on base percentage. Defensively, he committed just one error in the outfield and finished with a .988 fielding percentage. He earned ACC All-Tournament Team honors after batting .600 in the tournament.

Irving batted .279 while playing in 53 games at catcher for Virginia. He knocked in 35 runs during a strong freshman campaign in which he started 49 of UVa’s 59 games behind the plate.
