EUGENE, Ore.–Three former members of the Virginia Track and Field team were in action as the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials continued Thursday (June 28) at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

Graduated senior Marcus Robinson (Richmond, Va.) finished 20th overall in the men’s triple jump qualifying with a mark of 15.68m (51′ 5.5″). The distance came on his second attempt.

Robby Andrews advanced to the semifinals in the men’s 1,500 meters after finishing fourth in his heat and sixth overall in a time of 3:41.11. The semifinals are on Friday at 7:25 p.m.

Ayla Smith finished third in her 400 hurdles’ heat and 15th overall in a time of 57.01 to move on to the semifinals, which are scheduled for 6:20 p.m., Friday.

The U.S. Olympic Trials continue Friday (June 29), highlighted by former Cavalier Stephanie Garcia competing in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase final. The trials continue through Sunday (July 1).
