CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia softball players Marcy Bowdren (Fairfax Station, Va.) and Taylor Williams (Woodbridge, Va.) were both honored Tuesday on the All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the league office. It is the third such accolade for Williams, a junior, and the first for Bowdren, a sophomore.

To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.

Bowdren started all 51 games for Virginia, mostly at third base while seeing some time behind the plate. She was tied for the team lead with 25 RBI and was second with 38 hits, five doubles and six home runs. She finished with a .252 average

Williams, a three-year starter in the outfield, made 43 starts in left field and finished the year with a .210 average. She was second on the team with 14 stolen bases.
