OMAHA, Neb. –

Current, former and future Cavaliers continued action Saturday (June 30) at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

Graduated senior Peter Geissinger placed 15th in the men’s 100-meter butterfly semifinals in a time of 53.45. He was seventh in heat one.

In the preliminaries, Geissinger qualified for the semifinals in the men’s 100-meter butterfly with a time of 53.36. He came in with the 14th-fastest time overall and placed fifth in the 12th heat to make it back. Geissinger was a 16-time All-American and an eight-time ACC Champion in his four years at UVa.

In the women’s 800-meter freestyle, rising junior Rachel Naurath placed 23rd overall (seventh in heat) in a time of 8:46.36. Naurath is the school record holder in the 500-yard free (4:37.87) and is a five-time All-American and three-time ACC Champion.

Rising sophomore and 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Year Ellen Williamson finished 19th in the women’s 200-meter backstroke in a time of 2:14.65, while incoming freshman Courtney Bartholomew placed 28th in 2:15.16.

Williamson, a three-time All-American, was a finalist in the 200-yard back at this year’s NCAA Championships and Bartholomew was the 2011 Winter Junior national champion in the 100 and 200 back.
