CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Season tickets for Virginia volleyball are on sale now through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office. Season tickets for adults are $30, while youth, senior and UVa faculty/staff season tickets are $20. Season ticket holders have access to a reserved general admission courtside seating area.

The 2012 Virginia volleyball season will be the first under head coach Dennis Hohenshelt and his assistants, Stevie Mussie and Aaron Smith. Hohenshelt comes to UVa after six seasons with the Penn State women’s team that won four consecutive NCAA championships from 2007 to 2010.

New sound and lighting systems have been installed in Memorial Gym to enhance the experience of attending Virginia volleyball matches for both student-athletes and fans.

“It’s important to Dennis, Stevie, and Aaron that we establish an exciting environment for our fans that creates a true home court advantage for the team,” Virginia Associate Athletics Director for Marketing and Video Services Todd Goodale said. “The new sound system will allow our marketing and promotions staff and P.A. announcer to interact with our fans in new ways throughout each match and the lighting system will improve the overall atmosphere inside Mem Gym. We look forward to delivering a vastly improved spectator experience at home volleyball matches this fall.”

Virginia returns 10 letterwinners from the 2011 campaign and will host 15 matches at Memorial Gymnasium, including two tournaments. The Cavaliers’ home opener is against Western Kentucky on Friday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. All of Virginia’s Atlantic Coast Conference home matches will be played on Friday or Saturday nights at 7 p.m., including the conference opener against Virginia Tech on Friday, Sept. 14.

The team will hold its annual Orange-Blue scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 18 at noon. Admission to this event is free. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the team after the scrimmage and season ticket holders will receive a complimentary lunch.

For a single match, general admission tickets are $5 and are valid for admission to bleacher seating and standing areas. Youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission tickets are $4 and group tickets (20 or more) are $3 per ticket. Discounted tickets for UVa faculty/staff members are limited to four per match.
