CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia volleyball team hosts the Holiday Inn Jefferson Cup this weekend, taking on Western Kentucky Friday (Aug. 31) at 7 p.m., before facing Lehigh and Delaware Saturday (Sept. 1) at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively at Memorial Gymnasium. It will be the home debut for first-year head coach Dennis Hohenshelt.

Fans who attend Saturday’s UVa football game against Richmond can bring their ticket stubs and receive free admission to Saturday night’s volleyball match against Delaware (based on availability). Live stats for all six matches will be available through VirginiaSports.com.

Single-match general admission tickets are $5. Youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission tickets are $4 and group tickets (20 or more) are $3 per ticket. Fans can order tickets online at VirginiaSports.com and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 (8821) or 434-924-UVA1 (8821). Tickets are also available at the gate beginning one hour prior to the start of each match.

New sound and lighting systems have been installed in Memorial Gym to enhance the experience of attending Virginia volleyball matches for both student-athletes and fans.

Game-day parking for volleyball matches is available free of charge at the Culbreth Road Garage, located behind Carr’s Hill Field. Limited parking is available at the Central Grounds Garage (hourly rates apply).

Last weekend, Virginia went 1-2 at the Rocky Mountain Invite, defeating Rhode Island, 3-0, but falling to host Colorado State and Denver.

Cavalier sophomore Tori Janowski (Sterling, Va.) was named to the Rocky Mountain Invite All-Tournament Team after recording double-doubles against both Rhode Island and Denver.

Senior Jessica O’Shoney (Austin, Texas) leads the team with a .289 hitting percentage with 3.11 kills per set, while junior Emily Rottman (Santa Barbara, Calif.) leads the squad with 3.56 digs per set.

The Hilltoppers come to Charlottesville with a 2-2 record after defeating Austin Peay, 3-0, Tuesday night. Jordyn Skinner and sophomore Heather Boyan led WKU eight kills each.

Western Kentucky won the only match in the series with UVa, 3-1, on Sept. 21, 2002 in Bowling Green, Ky.

The Mountain Hawks won their season opener, 3-1, over Rider on Aug. 26. Taylor Poole led the team with a .444 hitting percentage, earning 14 kills.

UVa leads the all-time series, 2-0, with the last match coming on Sept. 2, 2005 in Allentown, Pa., a 3-0 victory for the Cavaliers.

The Blue Hens dropped two matches on the West Coast to start the season, falling 3-0 to both San Diego State and California. Katie Hank leads Delaware with 2.83 kills per set, while Ariel Shonk averages 3.33 digs per set.

The all-time series is tied at four apiece. The Cavaliers won the last matchup, 3-1, on Aug. 28, 2010 in Newark, Del.

Up next, the Cavaliers compete in a tournament at VCU, where they will face the host Rams Sept. 7, before taking on Georgetown and Appalachian State on Sept. 8.
