NEW ORLEANS—The Virginia men’s cross country team has been listed in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national poll for the first time this season, the organization announced Tuesday (Sept. 25).

The Cavalier men are ranked No. 27 this week after finishing third at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 22). Virginia’s women, who also finished third on Saturday, dropped to No. 26 in the national poll.

In the regional rankings, the men moved up another spot to No. 3 in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region poll, while the women dropped from the top spot to No. 5.

The men were led by graduate transfer Zach Gates (Fishers, Ind.), who placed fourth, while senior Sean Keveren (Brentwood, Tenn.) finished seventh overall. Graduate student Catherine White (Roanoke, Va.) led the women, crossing the line in second overall.

The Cavaliers return to action Oct. 12 when they travel to Madison, Wis., for the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.
