CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’ tennis team had four singles players and three doubles teams reach the round of 16 of the ITA Atlantic Regional as play continued Saturday at the Snyder Tennis Center.

Six Cavaliers were in singles action on Saturday, with four players winning a pair of matches to reach the round of 16. Top-seeded Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.), third-seeded Justin Shane (Falls Church, Va.), No. 6 seed Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.) and No. 7 seed Harrison Richmond (Pawleys Island, S.C.) all advanced with two straight-set victories. No. 14 seed Mitchell Polnet (Churchville, Pa.) and No. 16 seed Julen Uriguen (Guatemala City, Guatemala) won the their first match of the day, but fell in the round of 32.

In doubles, the top seeded duo of Richmond and Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) advanced with an 8-0 victory over a team from Saint Joseph’s. Second-seeded Justin Shane and Julen Uriguen also advanced, as did the unseeded team of Ryan Shane and Jonathan Cornish (London, England).

The tournament continues Sunday with the round of 16 of singles and the round of 16 and quarterfinals of doubles. Play begins at 10:30 a.m. and admission is free.
