CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s soccer team concludes its regular season at 7 p.m. Thursday when it travels to NC State for an ACC contest at Dail Soccer Field.

Series History
Virginia maintains a 45-17-7 advantage in its series with NC State and is 8-1-1 in its last 10 matches against the Wolfpack, dating to 2004. UVa won 4-1 last year in Charlottesville, extending its home win streak over NC State to 16 matches since 1980.
The Wolfpack downed UVa, 2-0, on Nov. 6, 2010, in the teams’ last meeting in Raleigh; that snapped an eight-game UVa unbeaten streak in the series.
Postseason Implications
Virginia will play on the road to start the ACC Tournament, but its destination will be determined after the Thursday ACC action. UVa currently sits in seventh place and will play at North Carolina, Boston College or Wake Forest at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
With a loss Thursday the Cavaliers would clinch the No. 7 seed and play at North Carolina Tuesday. NC State has clinched a No. 8 or No. 9 seed and will play Virginia Tech Monday in the tournament’s first round.
Cavaliers Rank 15th in Latest NCAA RPI
Virginia is ranked No. 15 nationally in the latest edition of the NCAA’s Ratings Percentage Index. The Cavaliers have played three of the top five teams in the RPI – Maryland (2), UCLA (3) and Georgetown (5) – and 10 of the top 40 (out of 16 matches).

Virginia played No. 22 Boston College to a scoreless draw last Friday at Newton Campus Field in Newton, Mass.
LaCivita made a pair of saves to record his fourth shutout of the year. With his 11th career shutout, LaCivita moved into an eighth-place tie with Keith Lenert (1982-85) and Michael Giallombardo (2006-08) on the all-time Virginia shutouts chart.
Virginia took a dozen shots, while Boston College was credited with nine. UVa held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. BC committed 16 fouls, while the Cavaliers were called for 15.
Scouting NC State
NC State downed VMI, 3-2, Monday in Raleigh for its 10th win of the year. The Wolfpack built a 3-0 lead in the first half, then held off the charging Keydets in the second half to secure the win. NC State played No. 4 North Carolina tough last Friday in Raleigh before succumbing, 2-0.
Alex Martinez ranks second in the ACC in goals (10) and points (28) and is tied for the conference lead in assists (8).

Virginia will await its destination for the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, pending the results of the Thursday matches. The ACC semifinals and championship will be played Nov. 9 and 11 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, Md.
