Virginia vs. North Carolina

North Carolina Head Coach Larry Fedora Quotes

Thoughts on the game:
“I guess we answered the question of whether these guys can bounce back or not, and to do it in a short week. Again, I think this says a lot about who the 2012 Tar Heel team is, what they are, and the adversity they’ve overcome this year and the willingness to keep working hard and practice and do everything that we ask. It was a total team effort and they deserve every bit of it.”

On the defense’s 55-point turnaround in four days:
“I think our defense played exceptionally. I think they were hurt by what happened last week and they have a lot of pride. We didn’t do anything special. We just practiced the normal way we practice. We only had a couple days to do it, we were only in pads for one day, and they knew what had to be done. It wasn’t going to be physical at this point in the season. It was mental, and I think our defensive staff did a great job getting those guys back.”

On goal-line stand:
“We had a couple of them, didn’t we? And after that goal-line stand the offense went 98 and scored so that was probably the dagger right there. I have to give it to the defense right there. They held them to two of 15 on third downs, they had a pick for a touchdown, they did everything we expected of them and asked them to do at this point.”

On Quinshad Davis’ performance:
“He had a tremendous effort. We got a lot of perimeter screens for him that were there off a blitz and Bryn [Renner] did a nice job of those, recognizing and getting the ball out to him. Those guys did a great job blocking out in front of him. That kid is going to be a really good football player. He’s not even close to reaching his potential.”

On Bryn Renner’s accurate performance:
“Yeah it is. The bad thing about it is we only have one game left. He’s probably as confident as he’s been with the offense in the last three weeks. He feels very comfortable and we’re just running out of time.”
