Georgia Fall Invitational: Day One Prelims

ATHENS, Ga.-The Virginia swimming and diving team advanced nine swimmers to the A finals on the first day of the Georgia Fall Invitational Friday (Nov. 30) at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.
In the women’s 500 free, junior Rachel Naurath is seeded second going into the finals with a time of 4:41.03, while sophomores Alison Haulsee (4:43.72) and Shaun Casey (4:45.58) will join her in the A final. Junior Caroline Kenney, sophomore Kelly Offutt and freshman Hanne Borgersen will compete in the B final, while junior Hillary Petersen will swim in the C final.
Junior Jan Daniec posted the second-fastest time in the men’s 500 free (4:21.63), while juniors Parker Camp and Brad Phillips, freshman Nick Alexiou and junior Parker Camp will compete in the B final. Freshmen Rodney Fentress and Chris Webb will swim in the C final.
Sophomore Ellen Williamson will compete in the women’s 200 IM final after notching the fifth-fastest time (1:58.30). Classmate Sarah White is in the B final tonight, while freshman Courtney Bartholomew will be in the C final.
In the men’s 200 IM, junior Taylor Grey (1:48.77) qualified for the A final, while senior Nick Montes de Oca (1:49.59) will be joined by sophomore David Ingraham (1:49.92) and freshman Luke Papendick (1:49.31) in the B final. Freshmen Matheus Martini (1:51.05) and Yannick Kaeser (1:51.59) will swim in the C final.
Senior Lauren Perdue (22.46) will compete in the women’s 50 free final, while junior Emily Lloyd (22.90)qualified for the B final. The C final will see junior Dana Nessler (23.24) and sophomore Emily Dicus (23.44) in action.
The 200 free relay and the 400 medley relay, in addition to the men’s 1-meter and women’s 3-meter diving, will be decided in Friday’s finals session, which starts at 5 p.m.
