ATHENS, Ga.—The Virginia swimming and diving teams advanced 14 to the finals on the third day of preliminaries at the Georgia Fall Invitational Sunday morning (Dec. 2) at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.
Freshman Courtney Bartholomew started off the day for the Cavaliers in the women’s 200 back and posted a time of 1:54.09, fourth-fastest on UVa’s all-time list.
Senior Brady Fox (1:44.92), freshman Luke Papendick (1:45.06) and junior Parker Camp (1:46.33) all swim in the men’s 200 back final. Senior Matt Murray (1:46.48), sophomore Kyle Dudzinski (1:47.22) and junior Jack Murfee (1:48.27) are into the B final.
Senior Lauren Perdue qualified for the women’s 100 free final in 49.00, while junior Emily Lloyd (50.03) made the B final.
In the men’s 100 free, senior Tom Barrett will be seeded fourth with a time of 43.93, while sophomore Charlie Rommel (45.20) will swim in the consolation final.
Senior Christine Olson qualified for the women’s 100 breast final in 2:16.37.
In the men’s 200 breast, junior Taylor Grey (1:57.84) and freshman Yannick Kaeser (2:01.03) will compete in the final, while senior Nick Montes de Oca (2:02.59) and freshman Matheus Martini (2:03.83) are in the consolation final.
The Cavaliers will have four competing in the women’s 200 fly final, including sophomores Alison Haulsee (1:57.28), Sarah White (1:58.13) and Shaun Casey (1:58.69) and junior Rachel Naurath (1:59.23).
In the men’s 200 fly final, junior Nathan Hart (1:48.43) will swim for UVa, while sophomore David Ingraham (1:49.26) will compete in the consolation final.
The 1650 timed finals begin at 11 a.m., along with platform diving. The finals start at 3 p.m., along with the 400 free relay.
