CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s lacrosse team is ranked No. 9 in three of the four major preseason polls, entering the 2013 season. The USILA coaches and Nike/Inside Lacrosse media polls were released earlier this week. The Face-Off Yearbook preseason poll was previously released this winter and Lacrosse Magazine‘s preseason poll in its entirety was posted today after the publication released each spot over a 20-day period.

The USILA coaches and Nike/Inside Lacrosse media polls will conduct a weekly poll through the season.

Head coach Dom Starsia’s squad features 24 returning lettermen from 2012, including five starters, from last year’s NCAA quarterfinal team. The Cavaliers went 12-4 and failed to reach the NCAA semifinal round for the first time since the 2007 season.

UVa opens its season on Feb. 16 at Drexel. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
