GREENSBORO, N.C.-Virginia freshman swimmer Natalie Martin has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Female Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday (Feb. 19).

Martin swept the breaststroke events at last weekend’s Cavalier Invite at the Aquatic and Fitness Center in Charlottesville. The native of Haymarket, Va., posted the 10th-best time in the conference in the 100 breast prelims with a time of 1:03.40 before winning the finals with a time of 1:03.45. In the 200 breast, she touched the wall in 2:16.11 to rank eighth in the conference.

With this award, the Cavaliers won a total of 10 conference weekly honors this season. Senior Lauren Perdue (Greenville, N.C.), junior Rachel Naurath (Manakin-Sabot, Va.) and freshman Courtney Bartholomew (Holland, Mich.) were honored in the fall, while junior Brad Phillips (Herndon, Va.), sophomores JB Kolod (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Ellen Williamson (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) and freshman Katie Warburg (Wilton, Conn.) earned weekly honors on Jan. 22 for their efforts against ACC rivals North Carolina and Duke. Juniors Jan Daniec (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Caroline Kenney (Suwanee, Ga.) were honored Jan. 29 for their performances against Wisconsin and Virginia Tech.

The women’s ACC Championships along with men’s diving will be held Feb. 20-23, while the men’s ACC Championships will be contested Feb. 27-March 2. Both meets will take place in Greensboro, N.C.
