CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s and women’s cross country teams will host the 2013 NCAA Southeast Regional this fall at Panorama Farms. The meet will be held on November 15, 2013 and will mark the first time the event has been held at the venue since it opened in 2001.
“We are thrilled and honored with the opportunity to host this event,” said director of track and field/cross country Bryan Fetzer. “It is a chance for the region to see how picturesque Panorama Farms is as a facility and why we are proud to call it home.”
Panorama Farms, located six miles north of the University off Earlysville Road, has earned accolades as one of the top cross country facilities in the nation. It hosted the 2006 and 2007 ACC Championships.
Virginia will host one of the nine regional meets that will serve to determine the field for the NCAA Championships, held in Terre Haute, Ind. In addition to Virginia, regional championships will also be held at Alabama (South), Baylor (South Central), Iowa State (Midwest), Lehigh (Mid-Atlantic), Sacramento State (West), Weber State (Mountain) and Wisconsin (Great Lakes). The Northeast Regional will be announced at a later date.
The Cavalier men won the 2012 NCAA Southeast Regional as the meet when held in Charlotte, N.C.
