GREENSBORO, N.C.–Updates from the 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships will be posted below by session in the order the events will be run.

Saturday Finals – 7 p.m. Start

1650 Free
ACC Champs Record: 14:35.12
ACC Record: 14:35.12
NCAA A: 14:47.70
NCAA B: 15:30.39

In the 1,650 free, junior Jan Daniec claimed gold in a time of 14:53.48, the sixth-fastest mark in UVa history. Classmate Brad Phillips was fourth in 15:04.82, while freshman Chris Webb was fifth in 15:05.97.

Junior Jonathan Buerger placed 13th after recording a time of 15:30.21 in the early heats.

200 Back

Freshman Luke Papendick earned silver in the 200 back with a school-record time of 1:41.90, while senior Matt Murray was fourth in 1:42.93, the fourth-best mark on UVa’s all-time list.

In the consolation final, senior Brady Fox touched first in a time of 1:43.51, while junior Parker Camp was third in 1:44.36.

Senior Tom Barrett tied for second in the 100 free in 43.04, the third-fastest mark on UVa’s all-time list.

Sophomore Charlie Rommel placed fifth in the consolation final in 44.44. His prelim time of 44.36 ranks ninth on UVa’s all-time list.

200 Breast

In the 200 breast, junior Taylor Grey won in a time of 1:55.68, while freshman Yannick Kaeser earned bronze in 1:57.32. Grey’s prelim time of 1:54.89 ranks fourth all-time at UVa, while Kaeser’s prelim swim of 1:56.98 is eighth.

In the consolation final, senior Nick Montes de Oca placed seventh in 2:00.82.

200 Fly

In the 200 fly final, sophomore David Ingraham finished seventh in 1:45.47, while junior Nathan Hart was eighth in 1:46.87.

The 400 free relay of Barrett, Rommel, Camp and freshman Nick Alexiou finished fourth in 2:55.45, the fifth-fastest time in school history.

Participants: Heat two – Parker Camp; heat three – Luke Papendick; heat four – Matt Murray, Brady Fox and Jack Murfee

Camp finished third in heat two in a time of 1:44.04. Papendick set a new Virginia record in heat three, winning in a time of 1:42.36. Murray was third in heat four in 1:43.37, while Fox (1:43.90) and Murfee (1:45.94) were fourth and sixth, respectively.

Tonight: Papendick will be the top seed and be joined by Murray in the championship final. Fox and Camp will swim in the consolation final.

Participants: Heat three – Tom Barrett, heat five – Charlie Rommel and Nick Alexiou

Barrett placed second in heat three in 43.18, the fourth-fastest mark on UVa’s all-time list. Rommel and Alexiou finished 4th and 5th in 44.36 and 33.67, respectively. Rommel’s time is tied for ninth on UVa’s all-time lists.

Tonight: Barrett will be in the championship final, and Rommel will swim in the consolation final.

200 Breast

Participants: Heat three – Yannick Kaeser and Nick Montes de Oca; heat four – Taylor Grey

Kaeser used a great last 50 yards to win heat three in 1:56.98, the eighth-fastest mark on UVa’s all-time list. Montes de Oca was fifth in 1:59.36. Grey posted the fourth-fastest time in UVa history, winning heat four in 1:54.89.

Tonight: Grey and Kaeser will be the top two seeds in tonight’s championship final, while Montes de Oca will swim in the consolation final.

200 Fly

Ingraham finished third in heat one in 1:45.84, while Hart was second in heat two in 1:45.59, the ninth-fastest time on UVa’s all-time list.

Tonight: Both Ingraham and Hart will swim in the championship final.


Friday Finals – 7 p.m. start

400 Medley Relay

The team of freshmen Luke Papendick and Yannick Kaeser, senior Matt Murray and sophomore Charlie Rommel finished fifth in a time of 3:11.42.

In the 400 IM, sophomore David Ingraham placed second in 3:46.68, while junior Brad Phillips was third in 3:48.25. Fellow junior Jan Daniec was fifth in 3:46.68 and classmate Nathan Hart was eighth in 3:55.63.

Freshman Chris Webb finished third in the consolation final in 3:49.55, a season-best time.

Senior Matt Murray finished eighth in the 100 fly in 47.55, while classmate Brady Fox was third in the consolation final in 47.98.

Senior Tom Barrett claimed gold in the 200 free in a time of 1:35.03 with freshman Nick Alexiou joining him on the podium with a third-place finish in 1:35.57. Junior Parker Camp was eighth in 1:37.35, while classmate Jonathan Buerger was third in the consolation final in 1:37.30.

100 Breast

Junior Taylor Grey claimed silver in the 100 breast in 53.67, while freshman Yannick Kaeser was sixth in 53.97. Those times rank third and sixth on UVa’s all-time list.

In the 100 back, junior Jack Murfee placed third in a school-record time of 46.69. Freshman Luke Papendick was fifth (47.20), while seniors Matt Murray (47.42) and Brady Fox (47.80) were sixth and seventh, respectively.

Papendick (46.96), Murray (47.13) and Fox’s (47.45) prelims times from the morning now stand as the third, fourth and fifth marks on UVa’s all-time list.

Phillips, Daniec and Webb went 1-2-3 in heat two in 3:46.72, 3:49.51 and 3:50.23, respectively. Phillips’ time ranks fourth on UVa’s all-time list. Ingraham won heat four in 3:45.93, while Hart was third in 3:48.97. Ingraham’s time is fourth-best in UVa history.

Tonight: Ingraham will be in the top seed and joined by Phillips, Daniec and Hart in the championship final. Webb will swim in the consolation final.

100 Fly

Tonight: Barrett will be the top see and be joined by Alexiou and Camp in the championship final, while Buerger will swim in the consolation final.

Grey finished third in heat two in 54.22. Kaeser was second in heat three in 54.06, while Montes de Oca was eighth in 55.73. Kaeser’s time ranks fifth on UVa’s all-time list, while Grey’s time ties for sixth.

Tonight: Kaeser and Grey will both compete in the championship final.

Papendick’s time is second-fastest in school history, Murfee’s ranks third, while Murray’s is fourth. Fox slides into fifth all-time at UVa.

Tonight: All four will be in the championship final.


Thrusday Finals – 7 p.m. start

200 Free Relay

The 200 free relay team of sophomore Charlie Rommel, senior Tom Barrett, junior Parker Camp and senior Matt Murray placed sixth in 1:19.17. Rommel’s leadoff 50 of 19.98 places sixth on UVa’s all-time lists.

500 Free Finals

Juniors Brad Phillips (4:17.61) and Jan Daniec (4:17.76) went 1-2 in the 500 free in times that ranks sixth and seventh on Virginia’s all-time lists, respectively. Freshman Nick Alexiou was fifth in 4:19.66, while junior Parker Camp was sixth in 4:20.10. All four times were career-best marks.

In the consolation final, freshman Chris Webb touched first in 4:21.44, while junior Jonathan Buerger was third in 4:22.10.

In the 200 IM final, junior Taylor Grey placed fourth in 1:45.71, the fourth-fastest time in UVa history, while sophomore David Ingraham was sixth in 1:46.78. Junior Nathan Hart was eighth in 1:48.81.

Freshman Luke Papendick claimed the consolation final in a time of 1:46.37, the eighth-fastest time on UVa’s all-time list, while Ingraham’s 1:46.59 in prelims sits 10th.

Alexiou won heat three in a time of 4:20.63, while Buerger was third in 4:22.73. The Cavaliers went 1-2-3-4 in heat four, with Daniec winning in a time of 4:18.99, the ninth-fastest mark on UVa’s all-time list. Phillips was second in 4:20.70, while Camp was third in 4:20.73 and Webb was fourth in 4:24.28.

Tonight: Daniec will be the top seed in the championship final, while Alexiou, Phillips and Camp will be seeded 3-4-5. Buerger and Webb will compete in the consolation final.
