UVa Men's Golfers Drop Back to Sixth at USF Invitational

Dade City, Fla. – The Virginia men’s golf team dropped back to sixth place following the second round of play at the USF Invitational. The Cavaliers shot 12-over 300 Monday at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Fla., for a 36-hole total of 13-over 589. NC State leads the 17-team field at 567 followed by South Carolina at 570.
The USF Invitational is Virginia’s first tournament of the spring.
Sophomore Denny McCarthy led the Cavaliers in scoring for the second consecutive day. He posted a score of 1-over 73 for a two-day total of 144. He enters Tuesday’s final round in 10th place. Ji Soo Park carded a round of 74 for a two-day total of 146. Park is in 18th place.
UVa freshman Alex Lloyd, playing in his first collegiate tournament, is in 32nd place at 149 following a second round 77. Mac McLaughlin is in 37th place at 150 and Nick McLaughlin is in 57th place at 153.
NC State’s Albin Choi shot 4-under 68 for the second consecutive day to top the leaderboard at 136, two shots ahead of Florida State’s Daniel Berger.
The tournament concludes Tuesday. The Cavaliers will tee off at 8:50 a.m. and will be paired with Kentucky and Mercer during the final round.
