CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 47 Virginia women’s tennis team opens Atlantic Coast Conference action at Maryland on Saturday, March 9. First serve is set for 12 p.m. at the Tennis Center at College Park.

The Cavaliers (2-4) return to action after splitting a pair of dual matches on Feb. 23-24. Virginia defeated No. 29 Ole Miss, 6-1, in Oxford and lost, 5-3, at No. 39 Memphis. Virginia is 32-10 all-time against Maryland (4-4, 0-1 ACC) and have won five of the last six meetings against the Terrapins, including a 4-3 win in Charlottesville last season.

Freshman Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) is ranked No. 10 in singles, while freshman Stephanie Nauta(Galveston, Texas) is ranked No. 61. Elbaba leads Virginia with an 18-5 singles mark and is 2-3 at No. 1 singles in dual action. Nauta is 17-4 overall and 4-0 in dual play.

Senior co-captain Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) and freshman Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) are ranked No. 6 in doubles with a 14-5 record, while No. 16 Li Xi (Kunming, China) and Nauta are 15-11. No. 52 Elbaba and senior Hana Tomljanovic(Boca Raton, Fla.) have added a 4-1 dual record.
