Gainesville, Fla. – The 15th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team moved up four spots to fifth place following the second round of play at the Sun Trust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The Cavaliers shot 9-over 289 for a two-day total of 26-over 586. UVa’s second round score was the lowest among the 15 teams in the field.

Alabama took over the team lead at 579, three shots ahead of Florida and Oklahoma.

Senior Brittany Altomare led the Cavaliers in the second round with a 1-under 69. She improved to fourth place. Portland Rosen will enter the final round in second place at 140 following here second-round 72. She trails Oklahoma’s Chirapat Jao-Javanil by three shots in the competition to medalist honors.

UVa’s Briana Mao is in 21st place at 148 after carding a 72 on Saturday. Elizabeth Brightwell is 67th at 158 and Kaira Martin is 73rd at 161.

The final round of the tournament will take place Sunday with a shotgun start.
