CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia sophomore Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) was named the ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. Mitchell helped lead the top-ranked Cavaliers to four road victories over top-20 opponents last week.

Frank went 4-0 in both singles and doubles play last week as the Cavaliers won at No. 19 Baylor, No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 14 Texas and No. 15 Illinois on their spring break trip. All four of Frank’s singles victories came over nationally-ranked opponents. In doubles, he teamed with Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) for four wins at the No. 2 position, including an 8-3 win over 13th-ranked Harrison Adams and Shane Vinsant of Texas A&M.

The award is the first of Frank’s career. He is the third Cavalier to be honored this season, joining Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) and Domijan.

Virginia opens ACC play this weekend with a pair of home matches. The Cavaliers host No. 8 Duke on Friday at 3 p.m., and No. 57 North Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Snyder Tennis Center and admission is free.
