CHARLOTTESVILLE – The second-seeded Virginia men’s tennis team will host first and second round action of the 2013 NCAA Tournament on Friday and Saturday at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers play Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round on Friday at 1 p.m., with VCU and Minnesota meeting in the other first round match at 10 a.m. The first round winners will meet in the second round at 3 p.m. on Saturday for a trip to the round of 16 next week at Illinois.

This weekend’s matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Snyder Tennis Center and there will be free parking for fans at the Culbreth Garage. The NCAA will make every attempt to play tournament matches outdoors, but if weather conditions prevent outdoor play, matches will be moved indoors to the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The Cavaliers (24-0) are hosting first and second round play for the 10th consecutive year. The 2013 ACC Champion, Virginia is looking to advance to the round of 16 for the 10th consecutive year. The Cavaliers have reached at least the quarterfinals the last eight years, including runner-up finishes the last two seasons.

Fairleigh Dickinson (9-7) is making its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Northeast Conference. It is the Knights’ second consecutive trip to Charlottesville, having played Virginia in last year’s first round. VCU (20-6) earned an automatic bid by winning the Atlantic 10 in its debut season in the league. The Rams, making their 18th overall NCAA appearance, travel to Charlottesville for the third straight year for regional play. Minnesota (14-10) received its fifth straight NCAA bid and its 19th overall. The at-large selection from the Big Ten is making its first trip to a regional in Charlottesville.

The Virginia women’s tennis team is also hosting first and second round NCAA Tournament play this weekend at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers also play Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round, a match beginning at Saturday at 12 p.m. Texas and William & Mary meet in the other first round match at 9 a.m. The first round winners will meet in the second round at 1 p.m. on Sunday for a trip to the round of 16.
