TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Virginia rising junior diver JB Kolod qualified for the finals and finished 10th on the 3-meter springboards at the USA Diving World Championship Trials Sunday (May 19) in Tallahassee, Fla.

Kolod, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., scored a total of 322.25 points in the preliminaries on Thursday to place 14th and move on to the semifinals, where he scored 373.75 points and improved to eighth place, earning a spot in Sunday’s finals. In the finals, Kolod scored 368.50 to finish with a total of 1074.5 points, good enough for 10th overall.

On the 1m boards on Wednesday, Kolod placed 18th in the preliminaries with a score of 261.55.

Kolod broke the Virginia records on both the 1m and 3m boards during the 2012-13 season. He finished 12th on the 3m boards at March’s NCAA Championships, UVa’s highest ever NCAA diving finish.
