WASHINGTON, D.C. – Virginia alumnus Somdev Devvarman (Class of 2008) qualified for the main draw of the ATP 500 Citi Open on Sunday at the FitzGerald Tennis Center. Devvarman topped Christian Harrison 6-0, 6-1 in the final round of qualifying.

Devvarman will meet former Tennessee All-American Rhyne Williams in the first round of the main draw on Monday, which is “Virginia Day” at the Citi Open. Also on Monday, the 2013 NCAA Champion Cavaliers will be honored.

Virginia fans and alumni can purchase 2-for-1 Citi Open Monday reserved tickets through Ticketmaster by using the code WAHOOWA.

The 2013 Cavalier championship team will be honored during a ceremony on Stadium Court. In addition, there will be opportunities for fans to get their photo taken with the 2013 NCAA Championship trophy and to meet past and present legends of Virginia tennis.

Also on Sunday, Jarmere Jenkins (Class of 2013) fell in the final round of qualifying, dropping a three-set match to Tim Smyczek 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.

In other Virginia tennis alumni news, Michael Shabaz (Class of 2011) won his second USTA Futures Tour singles title of the summer on Sunday, taking the title at the event in Godfrey, Ill., with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Noah Rubin.
