Cavaliers Travel to Vanderbilt for Second Fall Tournament

Charlottesville, Va. – The 24th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team heads to Nashville this weekend to participate in the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt at its Legends Course. This is UVa’s second tournament of the fall. The Cavaliers opened the season with a second-place finish at Texas A&M’s “Mo” Morial Tournament.
The Mason Rudolph Championship will take place Friday-Sunday on the par-72, 6,337-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course. Tee times will start at 8 a.m. CT Friday and Saturday and at 7:30 a.m. CT Sunday.
This year’s field includes Vanderbilt, No. 16 Alabama, No. 20 Arizona State, No. 17 Auburn, No. 32 Baylor, No. 19 Duke, No. 9 Kentucky, No. 38 Michigan State, North Carolina, No. 5 North Carolina State, Princeton, Texas, UCLA, Virginia and No. 11 Wake Forest.
The UVa lineup will feature Briana Mao, Lauren Diaz-Yi, Portland Rosen, Lauren Coughlin and Elizabeth Brightwell. Alex Hershberger will compete as a non-scoring individual.
Brightwell was the team’s top finisher at the “Mo” Memorial, placing sixth while Coughlin was seventh and Mao was 11th.
Last season Virginia finished second in a 15-team field at the Mason Rudolph Championship. Brightwell and Brittany Altomare tied for sixth at 6-over 222. Rosen and Mao tied for 17th at 226.
