Charlottesville, Va. – The 14th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team returns to action this weekend at the 2013 Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate tournament. The event will take place at the par-72, 7,147 yard Blackthorn Club in Johnson City, Tenn.

Virginia’s lineup will include Denny McCarthy, Derek Bard, Jimmy Stanger, Ben Rusch and Ji Soo Park. Nick McLaughlin will compete as a non-scoring individual. The tournament will be the first time Rusch has competed for UVa since the 2012 NCAA Championships. The 2012 ACC individual champion, he redshirted the 2012-13 season.

McCarthy currently leads the team with a 70.67 stroke average. He has posted two top-five finishes this season and has posted under-par scores in four of his first six rounds this year. McCarthy is ranked No. 21 in this week’s Golfweek individual standings.

The 14-team field includes Army, Coastal Carolina, ETSU, Furman, Kent State, Memphis, Missouri, Penn State, Tennessee, Villanova, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, UNC Wilmington.

On Friday and Saturday, every team will tee off from No. 1, starting at 8:30 a.m. On Sunday, half the field will tee off from No. 1 at 8:30 a.m., while the other half will go off from No. 10 at 9 a.m.

Virginia finished fifth at last year’s event, just four strokes behind tournament champion Missouri. Senior Mac McLaughlin led the team with a sixth-place performance at 4-under 212.
