Full 2014 UVa Men’s Lacrosse Schedule

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia men’s lacrosse head coach Dom Starsia announced his team’s schedule for the 2014 season today. The schedule features seven home games. Among UVa’s opponents in 2014 are seven teams that played in last season’s NCAA tournament.

“I do not think it is an exaggeration to suggest that the challenge in 2014 is epic in the history of our sport,” said Starsia. “The 2014 ACC men’s lacrosse conference may be the strongest assembled in NCAA history in any sport. Five of the six teams in this conference have won NCAA championships and this schedule features every NCAA champion since 2001.”

The 85th season of Virginia men’s lacrosse will feature the earliest start in the program’s history when Loyola comes to Klöckner Stadium on Feb. 6. It marks the first meeting between the teams since 1991.

Other Virginia non-conference home games are Feb. 22 vs. Rutgers, March 22 vs. Johns Hopkins, March 25 vs. VMI and April 19 vs. Bellarmine.

Richmond will host Virginia on Feb. 8 in a game that marks the first varsity contest for the Spiders’ first-year program.

Other Virginia non-conference road games are Feb. 15 at Drexel, Feb. 25 at Mount St. Mary’s and March 8 at Cornell.

Virginia opens ACC play when Syracuse comes to Charlottesville on Feb. 28. The Orange and Cavaliers have met every season since 1994, but now the classic rivalry will count toward the league standings as Syracuse is in its first year as a member of the ACC. UVa also hosts Duke in ACC play on April 11.

The Cavaliers have three ACC road games, highlighted by UVa’s first-ever trip to South Bend to face new league foe Notre Dame on March 16. UVa plays at Maryland on March 30 and North Carolina on April 5.

Virginia travels to Chester, Pa., for the 2014 ACC Championship on April 25 and 27. The championship will be played at PPL Park.

The NCAA Championship begins May 10-11 at home sites, followed by the quarterfinals at either Delaware (South) on May 17 or Hofstra (North) on May 18.

The NCAA men’s lacrosse championship weekend returns to Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium, the site of the event in 2010 and UVa’s most recent title run in 2011. The sixth championship weekend to be held at M&T Bank Stadium begins with the semifinals on May 24, followed by the final on May 26.

The men’s lacrosse team returns seven starters from last year’s campaign including two-time USILA All-American and a member of the 2013 ACC All-Academic team senior midfielder Rob Emery and two-time USILA All-American senior defenseman Scott McWilliams.

A reserved season ticket is $50. New this season, Section 3, located at midfield in the Klöckner Stadium grandstand, is available as a reserved season ticket. All blue chairback seats were sold out in 2013 as season tickets and are available for renewal only, however fans may request to be placed on the waiting list. A general admission season ticket is $40 for adults and $30 for youth, seniors and UVa faculty and staff.

Single-game tickets will go on sale Jan. 17.

All dates, locations and times are subject to change and a list of televised contests will be announced at a later date.
