CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s and women’s tennis programs hosted a clinic for Special Olympics Virginia for the seventh straight year at Boar’s Head Sports Club Thursday (Jan. 16) afternoon.

The clinic helps kick off “The Xperience” Special Olympics Virginia Tennis Tournament in which 36 of the top Special Olympic athletes compete in a three-day tournament at one of the finest indoor venues in the country.

One of Special Olympics Virginia’s goals of the tournament is to create shared experiences through sport that can bring people within communities together.

The Cavaliers competed with and against the Special Olympic athletes at the Boyd Tinsley Courts this afternoon.

“This is the best event of our year, hands down,” Virginia head coach Mark Guilbeau said. “It never ceases to amaze us how much fun it is and how much fun the olympians bring into the building and into our lives. Hopefully, we are giving them back as much as they’re bringing into us.”
