CHARLOTTESVILLE – The No. 14 Virginia women’s tennis team returns to action this weekend against No. 44 VCU and No. 33 South Carolina at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.

The Cavaliers (1-0) will face the Rams on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and the Gamecocks on Super Bowl Sunday at Noon.

In addition to live online scoring, the Cavaliers will have live online video available for the first time for all of their home matches at Boar’s Head Sports Club and Snyder Tennis Center. Fans can access the live video at VirginiaSports.com/allaccess.

The Cavaliers opened the season with a 5-2 win at No. 40 William & Mary on Jan. 15 and dominated the UVa Winter Invite on Jan. 18-20. Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) earned the singles title and teamed with freshman Rachel Pierson (Princeton, N.Y.) to win the doubles crown.

Elbaba is ranked No. 11 in singles, while sophomore Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) is ranked No. 28, Pierson is ranked No. 43 and sophomore Stephanie Nauta (Galveston, Texas) is ranked No. 85. Elbaba and Pierson are ranked No. 8 in doubles.

Seniors Caryssa Peretz (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Li Xi (Kunming, China), sophomore Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) and freshman Marie Faure (Toulouse, France) are also big contributors to the team.

Virginia owns an 11-9 all-time advantage against VCU (2-2). The Rams are led by No. 81 Yukako Noi.

The Cavaliers seek their first win against South Carolina, as the Gamecocks own a 4-0 series advantage. South Carolina (2-0) is led by No. 113 Brigit Folland.

Admission to all Virginia women’s tennis matches is free.
