CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia senior Alex Domijan (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) was named the ACC Men’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. Domijan shares the award with Greg Andrews of Notre Dame.

Domijan helped lead the Cavaliers to the semifinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Houston, downing Notre Dame and Cal before falling to eventual champion Ohio State in the semifinals. It was Virginia’s eighth consecutive semifinal appearance at the tournament, the longest active streak in the nation.

In singles, Domijan went 3-0 at the No. 2 position, with wins over Quentin Monaghan of Notre Dame, No. 68 Campbell Johnson of Cal and Chris Diaz of Ohio State. Those victories gave him a 13-1 all-time singles record at ITA National Team Indoors.

The award is the third of Domijan’s career and the first honor this season for Virginia.

Third-ranked Virginia (6-1, 1-0 ACC) will return to action on Mar. 1 as it hosts No. 7 Baylor. The match will begin at noon and is scheduled to be played outdoors at the Snyder Tennis Center.
