CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team’s redshirt senior guard Lexie Gerson (Fort Washington, Pa.) was named to the 18-member 2013-14 All-ACC Women’s Basketball Academic Team, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.

Gerson picked up in her delayed senior season where she left off in 2011-12 when she earned a spot on the ACC All-Defensive team, leading the ACC in steals and finished her Cavalier career ranked fifth on the Virginia career steals list. In addition to being a strong defensive presence, Gerson also demonstrates strong ball-handling skills on the offensive end, leading the ACC in assist-to-turnover ratio in conference games. The Good Works Team nominee has also been a fixture in the Charlottesville community, volunteering countless hours to projects over the last five years including working in schools with the ACE program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Studies of Women and Gender last May and will receive her Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Intercollegiate Athletics Administration.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during her academic career.
