Hilton Head, S.C. – The 28th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team moved up four spots to a tie for eighth place with 2013 NCAA Champions Alabama following the second round of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The Cavaliers are 31-over 599 after 36 holes of play. UVa’s 10-over 294 during the second round was the third best score among the 17 teams in the field.

Duke continues to lead the tournament at 7-over 575, eight strokes ahead of second place Vanderbilt.

Virginia was led during Saturday’s play by a pair of scores of 2-over 73s by Lauren Diaz-Yi and Briana Mao. Both players are tied for 46th overall at 10-over 152.

Lauren Coughlin leads UVa in stroke play at 7-over 149. She is in 26th place. One shot behind her is Elizabeth Brightwell in 30th place at 150 and Portland Rosen is 40th at 151. Coughlin and Brightwell both shot 74 on Saturday and Rosen turned in a score of 76.

The final round of the 54-hole tournament takes place Sunday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
