CHARLOTTESVILLE – No. 5/5 Virginia (25-5, 16-1 ACC) completes its ACC regular season at Maryland (16-14, 8-9 ACC) on Sunday, March 9. Tipoff at Comcast Center (17,950) is set for 12 p.m. Virginia clinched its sixth ACC regular-season title (second outright) and its second No. 1 seed for the ACC Tournament with its 75-56 win against Syracuse. The Cavaliers and Terrapins will meet for the final time in regular-season action as ACC opponents.

Last Time vs. the Terrapins
Joe Harris had a game-high 19 points to lead Virginia past Maryland 61-53 on Feb. 10.
• The Cavaliers trailed 26-25 at the half, but outscored the Terrapins 36-27 in the second stanza to post their school record sixth straight win in the series.
Malcolm Brogdon added 14 points and Akil Mitchell had 13 points, six rebounds and three assists for UVa.
• Seth Allen led Maryland with 15 points and Dez Wells added 12.
• UVa limited Maryland to 40.4 percent shooting from the floor.

Last Time Out
Malcolm Brogdon had a career-high 19 points as Virginia secured its first outright ACC regular-season title since 1980-81 in a 75-56 win over then-No. 4 Syracuse on March 1.
Akil Mitchell added 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds and Mike Tobey and Justin Anderson had 11 points apiece.
• C.J. Fair and Tyler Ennis led Syracuse with 13 points each, while Trevor Cooney added 12.
• Virginia trailed 28-27 at the half, but outscored the Orange 48-28 in the second half to post the win.
• The Cavaliers shot 50 percent from the floor (27-of-54) and 3-point range (8-of-16).
• The Cavaliers held a 34-24 advantage in the paint and enjoyed a 21-10 margin in second-chance points.
London Perrantes handed out a game-high seven assists.

About the Cavaliers
Virginia has won 16 of its last 17 games and looks to win its 14th straight overall. A win against Maryland would give Virginia 17 league wins, marking a single-season ACC record.

The Cavaliers’ success has been highlighted by their top-ranked defense, rebounding and balanced scoring. The Cavaliers are yielding 54.8 points per game and grabbing 54.6 percent of the rebounds, ruling the glass in 23 of 30 games. UVa also ranks sixth in the nation in field goal percentage defense at 38.1 percent.

Virginia is averaging 66.2 points per game, marking its highest total under head coach Tony Bennett. Virginia is averaging 23.0 bench points and has scored 43.7 percent of its points in the paint.

UVa sports a balanced scoring attack, led by Malcolm Brogdon and All-ACC performer Joe Harris. Brogdon leads the team at 12.6 points per game, while Harris is second at 11.3 ppg. Brogdon has a career-best 17-game double figures scoring streak. He ranks first in the ACC in free throw percentage (90.3%) and 11th in scoring (15.0 ppg) during league play.

Versatile guard Justin Anderson, who drained 3-of-4 3-pointers vs. Syracuse, has recorded 8.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Anthony Gill, who led UVa in scoring five times, has registered 7.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Mike Tobey had 11 points and eight rebounds against Syracuse, and has chipped in 6.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Senior Akil Mitchell had a game-high nine rebounds in each of the last two games and freshman point guard London Perrantes ranks first in ACC action in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.87) and sixth in assists (4.27 apg).
