CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Virginia infielder/pitcher Nick Howard (Jr., Olney, Md.) was named the ACC Player of the Week on Monday, as announced by the conference office. It marks the first such honor for Howard and the second for a UVa player this year. Derek Fisher earned the distinction following the first week of the season.

Howard had a strong week with three multiple-hit games and drove in runs in every contest as Virginia went 3-1. For the week, he went 8-for-16 with two runs, eight RBI and four doubles while only striking out once.

On Wednesday he hit a go-ahead two-run single and also picked up the save on the mound in the Cavaliers’ comeback win over Towson. He followed that with a career-high four RBI Thursday in a 14-4 win over Princeton.

On Saturday Howard drove in the Cavaliers’ lone run in the series opener at Miami and he then added two hits on Sunday night in an extra-inning victory over the Hurricanes.
