CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Virginia softball senior Stephanie Harris has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District III First Team, the College Sports Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday (May 1).

Harris, a native of Knoxville, Tenn., is now eligible for Academic All-America honors. The nursing major started 34 games for the Cavaliers this season in the outfield, hitting .230 with three home runs. She was named to the 2011 All-ACC Second Team and 2011 All-ACC Academic Team. Harris has been named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll twice.

District III encompasses the states of North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
